IRB Research Status Reports
IRB Status Report Forms are now available from the Tulane emergency website.

Re: Human Subjects Research Status Reports
As members of the Tulane University (“Tulane”) research community, you are all acutely aware of the devastation that Hurricane Katrina has wrought in New Orleans and across the Gulf Coast. You are also aware that nearly all research conducted in the affected region has been disrupted to some degree. Because the rights and welfare of human subjects in Tulane research studies remain a high priority for Tulane, it is critical that we determine how those research subjects may have been affected by the disruption of our research. For that reason, we ask that all principal investigators with active studies approved by either Tulane IRB complete one Research Status Report for each such study and submit it to Sylvia Young at:3514 Audubon TraceJefferson, LA 70121504-309-2954 (home)504-957-2101 (cell)sjyoung@peoplepc.com We appreciate that due to your inability to access your research records, it may be difficult to complete all items in each Research Status Report precisely. We encourage you to complete these items to the best of your ability, in consultation with study coordinators or other individuals who may have information about the study. When we gain access to our IRB records, we will post a notice at www.tulane.edu/research, and you can contact the individual named in that notice for information about your active studies. If you have any questions about completing a Research Status Report, or if you would like to discuss any of your active studies, please contact Sylvia Young at the above email address or phone numbers. If at all possible, we would like to have completed Research Status Reports by Friday, October 7. If you cannot submit completed Research Status Reports by that date, please contact Sylvia Young. Because it is important for Tulane to assess quickly the consequences of this research disruption to subjects, investigators who fail to complete Research Status Reports or to contact Sylvia Young by that date may be subject to study suspensions or other sanctions.We thank you in advance for your cooperation and timely attention to this matter. This unquestionably represents a substantial work burden for some of you during a difficult time. We know that you share Tulane’s commitment to ensuring that our human subjects research complies with all laws, regulations, and ethical standards, and that we afford Tulane research subjects the highest level of protection. We look forward to working together with you again at Tulane in the near future.
